Battle in the Saddle Team Penning Event

The Kentucky Horse Park Foundation proudly presents the twelfth annual Battle in the Saddle Team Penning event on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Kentucky Horse Park’s Covered Arena. Teams compete against each other to determine who has the skills and bravery needed to pen a group of cattle in the fastest time. And all of this fun is in the name of charity—to raise funds to support the Kentucky Horse Park!

Kids’ & Adult Boot Races

Kid’s Boot Race

All children, ages 12 and under, are invited to participate in the Kids’ Boot Race. There will be two categories—one for ages 7-12 and one for ages 6 and under. Participants will add their shoes into a pile at one end of the arena, and then race from the other end to find their own shoes, put them on, and run back to the finish line in the quickest time.

Prizes for first place boy and girl in each age division. Ribbons awarded for all participants.

To participate in the Boot Race, meet behind the announcer stand between 6:30 and 6:45 pm.

Adult Boot Race

Adults of all ages are invited to join in the Adult Boot Race. Participants will add their shoes into a pile at one end of the arena, and then race from the other end to find their own shoes, put them on, and run back to the finish line in the quickest time. Winner wins a special prize and bragging rights. To participate in the Adult Boot Race, come down to the arena during the intermission.
