The 19th Annual Southern Lights Stroll & 5K returned to the Kentucky Horse Park on November 20, 2021. The holiday spirit was on high after taking the previous year off due to Covid-19. Runners and strollers alike did not miss a step, and the Southern Lights Stroll welcomed one of its largest crowds ever with over 1,900 runners and walkers.

The Southern Lights Stroll has been a heralded “kick-off” for the Southern Lights Holiday Festival, with both events raising funds to support the Kentucky Horse Park. A food and supply drive was also held raising much-needed donations for The Gathering Place Mission and Scott County Animal Control & Care.

“We were so excited to welcome everyone back this year and were blown away by all the enthusiasm and support,” shared Brianna Flannery, Southern Lights Stroll Director. She continued, “I’d also like to thank all the KHP volunteers, Skip Rafferty of Three-Way Racing, and UK Athletics who had fourteen student athlete volunteers. Their help was invaluable making this year one of our best yet.”
